About this place
Start by choosing whether you want your nakgopsae spicy or mild. Introduced as Nam - Saiin’s signature dish, nakgopsae is a Korean stew named for its octopus, offal and shrimp. One diner recalled a sweet-and-spicy broth that brought together the springy texture of octopus and shrimp with the rich flavour of offal, enjoyed with rice. If you prefer to avoid heat, the menu also offers baek-nakgopsae, a non-spicy version. It is available from 2 portions, so choose an amount to suit your group.
The stew can be accompanied by jeon, Korean savoury pancakes, or tteokbokki. One diner described the chive jeon as crisp outside and tender within; the menu also lists kimchi, cheese and seafood varieties. The chewy tteokbokki comes with a sweet-and-spicy sauce, while the rosé version is described as rich and fragrant with cheese. They offer different ways to enjoy the same chewy rice cakes.
For a drink, plain Meryo makgeolli is listed at 748 yen by the glass and 2,200 yen by the bottle. The menu describes its freshness as reminiscent of yoghurt, and diners have enjoyed it with their meal. This is a casual spot for Korean street food and small plates, with both dine-in and takeaway available. It suits a dinner around a bubbling pot, or a meal built from several dishes that catch your eye.
